Joanna Staniszkis is a textile artist and creator of unique collections of wearable art.

 

"I travel the world in pursuit of finest materials -rare fabrics, unusual and alive.

In my atelier which is nestled in an ancient roman quarry, in the Luberon, in Provence, these are transformed and given a new life  through a thoughtful and intimate process of hand dying, printing or pleating.                                                                                                  The results of these processes are sometimes unexpected, experimental. Uneven colouring or a faded print is not seen as a fault but rather a welcomed variation, a proof of the fact that it is the human hand not a machine that has enhanced this cloth."

Each garment is carefully shaped and  individually inspired and it transforms those who wear it .
